Hepatotoxicity from Isoniazid and Rifampin Treated Children for Tuberculosis

Abstract
To estimate rates of hepatotoxicity among children treated for tuberculosis, we conducted clinical survey for isoniazid and rifampin treated patients from Chung-Ang University Hospital from July, 1984 to June, 1985.
The results were as follows:
1) Hepatotoxicity was observed on 7 cases among 101 cases(6.9%). Higher hepatotoxicity rate was observed in isoniazid and rifampin treated group(9.6%) than isoniazid alone treated group (4.1%).
2) There were no correlation of hepatotoxicity between age, sex and severity of the disease.
3) All cases of hepatotoxicity were observed within 4 weeks after treatment.
4) Abnormal liver functions were recovered by reducing the dose of isoniazid and rifampin or substituting ethambutol for rifampin.
tobiliary cancer(62¡Æo), and 9HCG was in gynecologic malignancies (56%), but CEA was less obvious in organ specificity.
5) At the beginning of clinical onset of malignancy, 92% individuals are positive at least one more cancer associated antigens, and apparent diminished positive rates(290o) are noted after resection of tumor mass.
6) The better differentiation in adenocarcinomas, the higher positive rate of cancer associated antigens was observed with prominent combined elevation.
